Our view.....

We just got back. Two prs of retirees. Me and my husband retired back in Bulacan, The other couple stayed in Florida USA. We always revisit places we've been in 3 years cycle. We travel every year, the four of us.
Anyway this year was Philippines in our 3 year cycle and Batanes,Boracay,Guimarias,Sorsogon,Cebu,Tagaytay,Manila,Baguio,Mt Province were the usual. We did Batanes last. To our surprise Batanes doesn't seem to advance as far as tourism is concerned. The plane fare is also enormously expensive. Bottom line, Batanes is no longer in our list. The island seems to be a dead end. Not showing anything that will please the tourists. The Gov't do not care at all. For the local tourists who wants a better deal for their hard earned PHP, go Boracay or Guimarias. It is cheaper and beaches are well worth. Hotels provide 5 stars service.

Mountain ranges in Batanes and coastline will stay and will be there forever. It's better to wait until the authorities in Batanes learn how to respect tourists and their monies. For diving enthusiasts, dive with the Whale sharks in Sorsogon. We did and it's worth your money. In Batanes you can't even swim. Monster and killer waves everytime and everywhere. Palawan is another place to go.
This is our own observation and we are not trying to influence your decision where to spend your hard earned PHP or $$. Just giving you our point of view that Batanes is no longer a viable place to visit.
Batanes is advancing backwards. The gov't take tourist monies and never look back. There are no services for tourists at all. Zippo! People in the island are nice . Actually there is no nightlife in that island. This was the 3rd time we visited Batanes. It may be awhile before we even think of going back . Before closing, there is this place I forgot to mention in Cebu called Malapascua island. Heck of a place. It's an adventure to get there but it's well worth it... fun.

Yes it is really sad Wayne. Then again maybe we were just unlucky during our stay . I thought of formally filing a complaint to the management. I was sadly told that the manager of this resort is a mechanic or electrician. No formal hotel management training. I almost fainted.

I am waiting for answer from someone in the island. I need to know if this is run by local or provincial gov't. I will send my complain either to the mayor of Basco or the governor.

Hi Hal and Jay,

I'm sorry to hear that. :( Yes, during our stay there 2 years ago, everything seemed to be fine. Just not sure how things are goin' on there this days. I hope that the government would do something about this. ;-)

Hi Hal and all,

We just got back from that island and I agree 110% with Hal. Things changed I guess since Wayne and co. went there. No offense but I'd rather stay in a cheap private house/hotel but not in this Batanes Resort. Service was lousy, food is yucky and the environment is dirty. Since the day we checked- in there was this used qtip on the walkway infront of our door. It stayed there until we left because nobody even sweep the walkways. Cigarette butts all over the place and the way down to the beach was full of garbage, plastic spoons food wrappers, used tissue papers etc,etc....... Amazing.
I guess if you are in a tour group, should be okay because you will be gone all day everyday.
Not worth your money staying in this place!!!!!!!! They just want your money without providing good service. Towns people told us that there were so many complaints about this hotel but noone is making any action. Juts like what Hal said... Tourist Trap !!!!!

Hi all,
I am sure all the goodies published here are true. Unfortutanely I am very sad to say that those days were long gone. This resort (If one can call it a resort) is nothing but a PIT STOP. management of this place is second to hell. I'm sorry to say all these but.... The location is perfect but that's about what is good in this place. I strongly recommend to stay at private places. This is a gov't run hostel. Yes a hostel not a hotel.
Sorry Wayne and all. I have to say it to help future visitors avoid the traps from this hostel. I am not saying not to stay at this trap but I am warning you to stay away from this place.

Hi Naomi, naku, sorry po. Matagal na rin namin silang hindi nakakausap. :( Pero nagriring naman po ba yung numbers nila? Or totally hindi na sila ma-reach?

We went there September of 2008. Ok naman yung weather noon, nakachamba. Hehehe. Though nakaexperience kami ng bagyo in the middle of the week kaya nastranded yung flights nung ibang mga kasabay namin. Hehehe. :D

hi!
i was wondering if youre still in touch with the folks at Batanes Resort? Ive been contacting the numbers you posted, as well as kuya Nards' to make reservations but I cannot seem to contact them.

Also, im planning to go this End Sept-Early Oct (Seair had a seat sale ;p) any feedback on the weather there during that time?

thanks a bunch!

Im so disappointed with Batanes Resort. Today is the 5th time I called them up to text me the account number and the amount I need to pay in advance. Nada. wala pa rin text until now. The girl I spoke to during my 4th call just laughed when I complained that it was the 4th time I followed-up with them. I even complained to the manager na yesterday kasi nga pwerwisyo na. Sayang pa sa load! He promised he'll text me right after our conservation. Im still waiting in vain!

Hindi pako dumadating dun bad service na agad...
